Peace of Mind Pacific County (POMPC) is a young organization with a much longer history. Although POMPC is a mere fifteen months old, you may know it as it was for the eleven years previously – National Alliance on Mental Illness, Pacific County Affiliate. The decision was made to become more inclusive, not just in regards to mental wellness.
Currently POMPC is in the process of becoming a 501c3 federally recognized non-profit. They are a completely volunteer, peer-run organization and are an associate member of Mental Health America, the oldest peer-founded mental health organization in the United States.
Their activities include twice monthly coffee support meetings, monthly community awareness dinners with a guest speaker, the annual Mental Wellness Walk in May in support of Mental Health Awareness Month, Recovery Sunday in support of National Recovery Month in September, as well as sponsoring both Mental Health First Aid and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) workshops in Pacific County.
