City of Ilwaco puts on their annual Fishing Derby event that is free to the public and rewards kids with t-shirts and prizes to come fish in Black Lake. Over 200 children attend this event annually.
With the current development on the City Park play area which became a full community endeavor all the way down to its ongoing community build of the structure itself that would not have been possible without contributions from city staff, the support of the mayor and the ongoing donation of public works time.
The annual Children’s parade in Ilwaco which happens the day before Loyalty Day Parade, and honors youth serving businesses, youth sports teams, the Middle/High School Band and communities children.
The City of Ilwaco has let the Ilwaco Youth Klub present on their new Safe Space room at Ilwaco High School and the Color Run event the YAK students put on.
Speaking of Color Run, City of Ilwaco has supported WellSpring and partner events such as the YAK Color Run and Peninsula Poverty Responses PPR Triathlon and the Firecracker 5k, all healthy recreational opportunities that support good causes.
