Robyn Handley came to the Long Beach peninsula working through Americorps with Big Brothers/Big Sisters (BBBS), and quickly became part of the fabric of our community. She became a member of WellSpring almost immediately, and soon served on the executive board as secretary. She now serves as vice chairperson.
After her term with Americorps ended, she was hired by BBBS to continue and expand her work in the county, working not just in the schools on the peninsula, but also in all north county schools.
Robyn’s service is notable for continually going out of her way to make collaborations “happen” among organizations. For example, she worked with the Pacific County Libraries to bring Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) materials to all of the BBBS-supported schools in the county last year, and she is currently working with the library system to reprise this successful STEM partnership.
Within WellSpring, she has worked with enthusiasm on both the fundraising committee and the Movies in the Park team, and has successfully hosted fundraising events such as Wacky Putt Putt Golf and December’s Ugly Sweater Contest.
According to chair-person Michelle Zilli, “Robyn is always available and reliable, is a master at rapid poster creation, and a whiz at constructing trophies. She is all-around awesome.”
Congratulations Robyn, and thank you for your service!
