Pacific County Health & Human Services has begun a countywide Prevention Team. Various providers, leaders, and professionals come together on a bimonthly basis to share and collaborate on happenings in the community.
“This team, has been something that we [Pacific County Health & Human Services], have wanted to do for a long time,” Gracie Manlow, Human Services Program Manager, said. “It’s been incredibly empowering to have time to collaborate and see what great work is happening in the area.”
The intent behind the Prevention Team was an effort to create more overlap with services and programs offered in Pacific County.
“We have three community coalitions, three True North providers, and a variety of other prevention partners in the county,” Manlow said. “It’s really helpful when we can all bounce ideas off of each other and perhaps find ways to build capacity among each other.”

The team has held three official meetings since their inception in January 2018. Some current programs they are working on include a county wide prevention newsletter, bring some suicide awareness PSAs to the area, and an E-Cigarette Training from the Washington Poison Center.
“I think one of the most important things to emphasize with the prevention team is collaboration, not competition,” Manlow said. “We are all working toward the same cause: reducing youth substance use. There is definite strength in numbers.”
