Teen Advocacy Committee (TAC) is currently planning the annual Peer Helper Retreat, which will be held September 12-14, 2015 at Falls Creek Lodge and Retreat in Raymond. As part of the retreat, TAC is organizing a Resource/Volunteer Fair on Monday, September 14 from 10:00am-12:00pm.
TAC is looking for as many county-wide organizations as possible to table at the Resource/Volunteer Fair. This is a great opportunity to present teens with ways to get involved with your organization. Examples may include mentoring, volunteering with nonprofits or churches, sports and exercise, live theater, environmental cleanup, participating in school health advisory councils, etc. If you are unable to attend the fair, there will be table space available for brochures or other materials.
For the first two days of the retreat, the Peer Helpers will be identifying, discussing, and finding solutions to issues surrounding high-risk behaviors by youth. On the last day the youth will present their team projects on community solutions to these behaviors. The Resource/Volunteer Fair will follow the presentations and provide the Peer Helpers with positive community resources and healthy alternative activities. TAC believes our county has many opportunities for teens to get involved in activities that build resiliency.
