OBSD's Early Childhood Center has been the home of quality Early Childhood programs since 2008. The Early Childhood Center was built with a Community Development Block grant that is the embodiment of true collaboration.
The Early Childhood Center currently houses the Early Steps to School Success Program, a prenatal-to-three home visit program, Early Support Infants & Toddlers, an early intervention program for children ages birth to three with developmental disabilities, the Developmental Preschool, a preschool program for three- and four-year olds with developmental disabilities, and the Early Childhood Education & Assistance Program.
Ocean Beach School District has a district preschool program that currently runs at both Long Beach and Ocean Park Elementary Schools. Also, the Early Childhood Center is the home for monthly play groups and READY! For Kindergarten classes.
All of these programs are run by incredible individuals who are committed to providing a supportive, nurturing, educational approach, and have been operating on the foundation of trauma-informed care since the beginning. The Early Childhood Center serves as a resource hub for families needing connection to services in the community. They even have a spot in the lobby where free clothing and other household items are available for families. Through the years families have both donated and utilized this resource. The Early Childood Center has been a place for families to develop friendships with other families, his has created new communities of support. Children and families who are involved at the Early Childhood Center flourish-- what an incredible gift it is to our community!
